The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD - Lanayru Mining Facility Dungeon Walkthrough (2024)

Now that you've finally made your way through Lanayru Mine and Lanayru Desert, you will find yourself in the Lanayru Mining Facility, the bustling hub of this ancient place, and the devastating dungeon you'll have to make your way through.

In this guide we're going to be outlining absolutely everything you need to do in order to get through this tricky part of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD. The Lanayru Mining Facility is the kind of deep dungeon that it can be easy to get stuck in, but with this guide we're going to take you from the entrance to the boss as easily as possible. Just follow our guide below to clear through with ease. Make sure to check our Lanayru Desert guide if you haven't unlocked the Mining Facility yet.

Lanayru Mining Facility Entrance - Zelda: Skyward Sword HD

As you enter the dungeon you'll be in a fairly large room, mostly filled with those bomb-cup doors you've already blown down a dozen times already. There's a bunch of quicksand here too. The main door here is locked - on the right side of the room you'll see a pillar with a bomb flower on top. You can use this bomb with your Hook Beetle to pick them up and take out the nearby enemies and doors in the sand - then, cross the sands and activate the switch on the left side to open up the main door - the right side switch grants access to a small chest.

Through the door, the next room is a crossroad. There are two more three-headed enemies here, too. The right door is locked with a Small Key, and the left needs to be opened somehow. Move forward instead, and you'll notice some boxes you can push around on the left side. Use these to climb up and go through the door.

Getting The Gust Bellows, Lanayru Mining Facility - Zelda: Skyward Sword HD

In the next room you'll find yourself in a massive chamber, but progression is blocked on all sides. Use your Hook Beetle with the bomb flower on the nearby pillar, and this time detonate the boxes on the far right, this lets you hop over and climb the ladder. The first Small Key is up here. Now you can return to the previous room and unlock the Small Key door.

Going through the Small Key door, you'll be in another huge chamber - big dungeon, I know. Make your way around on the left, cross the path across the sand, and climb the vines - watch for the explosive puffer fish. Now, use the Beetle to grab a bomb from the pill above where you entered the room, and use that bomb to blow the box atop the ladder you're stood next to. Now you can climb, stand on the switch, and use your Beetle while on the switch to hit the timeshift stone in the centre of the room. This transforms the entire room, making it much more dangerous.

This will be your first time up against the "Guardian Totems," as I like to call them. You need to cut them along the lines on the their body, and then jab the eye to finish them. Go down the ladder, destroy the totems while being cautious of the treadmill, and make your way down the next ladder. It's time to run over the treadmill you just went over - avoid obstacles, grab Stamina Fruit on the way. Head to the right and up the stairs. Run up one more treadmill, destroy the totem, and activate the switch here, opening a door at the base of the most recent treadmill.

In here you'll be faced with a bunch of cubes, and potentially a few extra items. YOu can explore if you wish, but you should hop on the cubes, try to hop around the right side of the room, and use the explosive puffer fish to clear the rocks and make your way over to the ladder at the opposite side of the room to get the Gust Bellows. This item blows away sand and dust, making it invaluable for this room. You can now blow small enemies and sand off of the cubes here, or push puffer fish into rocks. Make your way to the right to find the next ladder and exit - there's also a block to push down on the left side which can be used as a shortcut. At the top of the ladder use the Gust Bellows to blow away the sand, and you'll be back in the first large chamber room. Move the block, and now you have unlocked another route back.

Getting The Dungeon Map, Lanayru Mining Facility - Zelda: Skyward Sword HD

Drop down the ladder, hop over the gap, and exit out of the door on the left to return back to the crossroads room. To the left here is a block on some other stuff covered in sand - use the Gust Bellows to clean it out. After, push the block onto the switch you uncovered to open up the final door in this crossroads area. Head on through.

Another big chamber? Yep, it's another big chamber. Run across the sand to the first platform, the second, and then turn left and cross the sands once again. Now turn left once more to run into the corner of the room, and use the Gust Bellows to clear the sand away, revealing a timeshift stone. Smack it, and the room will empty of sand and transform. There are now plenty of gaps to fall down, be careful. The platforms here can be moved by blowing the fans on top with the Gust Bellows. Cross the first gap, and then open the gated door by blowing at the fan above the door. Hold it until the door fully opens.

Defeat the Guardian Totem, and climb down the ladder. Use the Gust Bellows on the platform to make it easy to mount, and then use it to cross the gap. Watch for the Guardian Drones - you can use your shield or sword to reflect projectiles to defeat them. Climb the next ladder here, use the fan to the left of the door to open the gate, and head on through. There are two three-headed enemies in here, clear through them, and then blow the sand off of the block at the back of the room, and push it against the part of the wall lacking a balcony, so you can climb up. Once up, blow into the gated room to clear the sand, and then shoot the unveiling timeshift stone with your Slingshot. You'll need to defeat the enemy in the room with your Gust Bellows to blow the fan on its head, followed by swiping or jabbing the gems it reveals. Once done, open the chest to get the Dungeon Map, then head into the next room.

Getting Across The Sand In The Main Room, Lanayru Mining Facility - Zelda: Skyward Sword HD

You'll be back in the big room again now, but on the other side of the gate, allowing you to keep moving forward. Use your Beetle and bombs to clear out the enemies on the sand. Check your map, and you'll see that - just with the Lanayru desert - there will be parts of the floor here you will not sink through. Use your beacons to mark safe corners on the map. Make your way over to the visible solid floor on the right side of the sands using the route on the map, go to the end of that platform, and then turn left and head straight towards the far wall. Clear the sand on the ground to unveil a crawlspace. Crawl through and you'll eventually come out into an entirely different room.

Here the floor actually has spikes to either block your path, or hurt you badly. Use the Gust Bellows to blow away the sand and find the safe path, in addition to the switch that's on the floor. Once found, head up the stairs and through the door. Now we're on the far side of the main room, not far to go now. Blow the sand off of the minecart here to unveil another timeshift stone. Jab it to activate it, and it'll start revealing an old bridge. Follow it along, and destroy the guardian. Use the fan above the door to open it, and keep following the minecart, using it as cover to avoid enemies. Once you're across, use the switch to speed up the cart. Again, you can open this door with the fan above it to make a permanent shortcut through the main room.

Head over the bridge to the left to blow sand off of another minecart and jab it again to get moving. There's a fan halfway down the bridge here - you'll need to wait for the minecart to get close before using it to open up the door. Once it's open, use the cart again to gain access to the door. Nearly there, I swear.

Treadmill Room 2 Electric Boogaloo, Lanayru Mining Facility - Zelda: Skyward Sword HD

Okay, another treadmill room lies ahead, so let's get this done fast. Run over the first treadmill - which will currently be stood still - and watch for the bursts of steam/air that are coming from the pipes, these will knock you into the void. Climb the vines, and know that the dark patches are where steam will be. Leap across when you have the chance, and climb up the right side. Once up, head right and bomb the cup doors on the wall to make a path across. Blow the and away on the far side to unveil - you guessed it - a timeshift stone. Slap it, and we can make our way through.

Hop back over the stone doors, run over the treacherous triple treadmill, and grab the switch to bring over a fan platform. Use the Gust Bellows to get over to the other side of the room. Bomb all of the cup doors on the wall here. Now check for the fan platform rail that is running parallel to where you're stood - you can't jump onto the platform from here, but you can use the Gust Bellows to move it to somewhere you can reach before mounting it and using it to get to the far side of the room. There's another block to move out of the way of a ladder here. Use the platform on the other side of the room now, and again bomb the cup doors to unveil switches.

The doors you bomb on the other side of the room unveiled robot reliefs, with one, two, and three robot icons. You must strike the switches on the opposite side of the room in that same order. When facing the switches, the order is left, right, middle. Now the door next to that block we pushed will open up.

There's another two enemies with fans on their heads here - take them down to open up the gate and grab the boss key, the Ancient Circuit. This opens up a door in the previous room you can access by dropping down the ladder and running up the treadmill. Go through the door, and head right. Clean the minecart, jab the timeshift stone, and this will allow you to use the fan platform. On the other side, you'll be at the boss door - at long last. Now you must fight the Thousand-Year Arachnid, Moldarach.
