Ride ‘Em Cowboy: ‘Yellowstone’s Steamiest Season 1 Scenes (2024)

It’s been over a year since a new episode of Yellowstone aired and fans of Taylor Sheridan’s hit Western drama are in desperate need of a Dutton fix.

Season 5 is predicted to return in November 2024, so we can’t offer you any new episodes yet. What we can do is try to quench your Yellowstone thirst with a steamy trip down memory lane.

Decider revisited Yellowstone Season 1 and pulled out some of the sexiest scenes from early episodes — back before Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Rip (Cole Hauser) were husband and wife, Walker (Ryan Bingham) and Avery (Tanaya Beatty) had just arrived on the ranch, Lynelle Perry (Wendy Moniz) was still Governor Perry, and Jamie (Wes Bentley) was hooking up with his new campaign managerChristina (Katherine Cunningham).

From hot and heavy hookups and fully nude scenes to unexpected kisses, stripping, and even a shirtless Kevin Costner, here are seven Yellowstone Season 1 throwbacks that will have you screaming, “Giddy up!”

  1. Season 1, Episode 1: “Life’s Not That Complicated, Rip”

Yellowstone wastes no time turning up the heat with one of the season’s hottest sex scenes appearing in the pilot episode, “Daybreak.” Around the 45-minute mark one of the show’s sexiest couples —Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, duh — get their flirt on bright and early. After Beth (coffee and cigarette in hand) undoes the tie on her robe, Rip clears his throat, and she says, “Life’s not that complicated, Rip. You either walk on down the hall or f*ck me.”

As Decider wrote back in 2018 (yeah, we’re OG fans), “Yellowstoneemploys a whiplash-fast cut to the two of them going at it HARD, like not only moving the furniture they’re doin’ it on top of, but having it repeatedly bang up hard against the wall. It’s rough, it’s quick, and judging by the characters’ reactions, it seems to be a successful transaction. Plus, it’s just plain HOT to watch.”

  2. Season 1, Episode 3: “I Wasn’t Gonna Wear It Long”

If you’re caught up on Yellowstone Season 5, you know Lynelle Perry as Senator Perry, but before she was a U.S. senator, before she was a congresswoman, she was Governor Perry and she was hooking up with future Montana Governor John Dutton. Talk about a political power couple!

In Episode 3, “No Good Horses” we see shirtless John (Kevin Costner) chilling in bed in postcoital bliss until Governor Perry comes out of the bathroom wearing a robe. He orders her to take it off, explaining that it belonged to his wife. Perry apologizes, walks out of frame, and returns wearing only black lingerie, announcing, “I wasn’t gonna wear it long.” Just like that, she’s forgiven and the two smash lips and gear up for Round Two.

  3. Season 1, Episode 3: Beth’s Trough Bath

“No Good Horses” is also the episode where Beth boldly takes a trough bath in broad daylight, which is simultaneously super sad and super sexy. When Jamie sees his sister headed for the trough with two bottles of booze, a cigarette in her mouth, and a bathrobe waving in the wind baring her naked behind, he furiously follows. She drops her robe in front of him, gets in the trough, and chugs champagne before reminding him it’s the anniversary of their mother’s death.

It’s clear Beth is acting out from grief and in need of support, but Yellowstone adds a complex layer of sex appeal to the scene — as they often do with Beth, or any woman on the show— by having this buck naked badass quite literally bathe in and drink away her pain. When Jamie leaves Beth behind, Rip appears and offers her coverage, saying, “I’m the one thing you can’t outwrestle here.” His support, as usual, is sexy as hell. But Beth denies it, says “Everyone suffers today, including you,” and confidently walks away with her bare bum on full display.

  4. Season 1, Episode 8: “Be Selfish With Me”

If you’ve stuck with Yellowstone over the years, you know how things between Jamie and Christina work out, but Season 1, Episode 8, “The Unravelling: Part 1” shows the night everything between them changed. As his new campaign manager, Christina finds herself pulling a late night in the office with the aspiring Montana Attorney General and decides to give him a much-needed pep talk related to his family and his career ambitions.

“I want it so bad. Is that wrong? Is it wrong to want it?” Jamie asks. “Wanting something for yourself isn’t selfish, Jamie…When’s the last time you did something just for you?” Christina replies. As Jamie says “I don’t know,” Christina walks over, mounts him, and whispers, “I want you to do something just because you want to. Be selfish with me.” The two start SMOOCHING right in front of the wall of windows and I can’t remember the last time selfishness looked so hot.

  5. Season 1, Episode 9: Strip For Rip

In a scene that seems straight out of The Sopranos, Yellowstone takes viewers to a strip club in Episode 9, “The Unravelling: Part 2,” aka the Season 1 finale. Topless women in skimpy underwear dance on poles while neon lights and a powerful purple glow softly light the room. In an unexpected twist, we learn Rip is sitting alone near the stage taking in the sights. In another twist, when a woman walks up to offer her services, he says, “Go on, leave me alone.” Finally, he walks up to woman at the bar and says, “How would you like to make $1,000? I need your help. It ain’t dangerous or illegal.” The woman, who we learn is named Avery, asks for a real job at the ranch, and when Rip says he can’t put her in the bunkhouse with a bunch of lonely cowboys, she tells him not to worry…she fights off men for a living. It’s exciting to seeing Rip leave his comfort zone in such a publicly seductive environment, and Avery spices up the series in ways we didn’t know we needed.

  6. Season 1, Episode 9: “I’ve Had My Ass In Every Face In This Room”

In case you couldn’t tell, Rip caves. Hard. Later in the Season 1 finale, the boys welcome Avery to the bunkhouse and the vibes instantly change. After making an iconic entrance and claiming a bunk, Avery says, “Might as well get this over with” to the flustered fellas and pulls her pants down, revealing her bright white cheeky bikini bottoms. “I don’t know what you’re all so nervous. I’ve had my ass in every face in this room,” she bluntly says, failing to cut the sexual tension. “For the record, if I wake up in the middle in the night to one of you assholes standing over me beating your root, I’ll cut it off,” she adds before taking her top off, wrapping a towel around her shoulders, and hitting the shower in her new home. What’s that? Oh, just the sound of a dozen cowboys wanting to knock boots.

  7. Season 1, Episode 9: “I’m Stuck Here, Too”

We see Walker and Beth’s electric chemistry in Season 1, Episode 7 when he grabs her hips and teaches her how to connect with a horse, but they finally surrender to their palpable sexual tension in the Season 1 finale when Beth tears open Walker’s shirt to reveal his brand and remind him he’s sticking around for a while. Walker boldly reciprocates, popping buttons open on Beth’s shirt and revealing her bra. “Where’s your brand?” he asks. She forcefully pushes him up against the barn, pulls her face close to his, and says, “Mine’s on the inside. I’m stuck here too.” Forgive us, Rip. You’re still the ultimate cowboy crush. But there’s no denying this Beth and Walker make-out scene isn’t smokin’ hot.
