Xavi Simons, Victor Boniface, and Harry Kane—new signings have left a significant mark on the Bundesligaand also the latest Transfermarkt market value update. RB Leipzig’s Simons has made such a significant jump up that he passes Bayern Munichwingers Serge Gnabryand Kingsley Coman. But the biggest increase in squad value has gone toStuttgart.
“It took just a few Bundesliga matchdays for Xavi Simons to show that he is one of the biggest talents in the world,” said Transfermarkt's Bundesliga market value coordinator Tobias Kröger. Simons is now the most valuable RB Leipzig player and would also be the most valuable winger if not forLeroy Sané’s recent explosion in form that earned him a €10 million increase to €75m. Simons’ market value has increased by €30m to €70m. “Among all players born in 2003, Simons is one of the four most valuable players in the world. The 20-year-old Dutchman also made the next step with the national team, where he is the symbol for a brighter future.”

No other Bundesliga player had a bigger market value update than Simons. But Mathys Telnot only had just as big of an increase in market value (€30m) but based on percentage, Tel’s increase was twice as high as Simons’ increase in market value. The Frenchman saw his market value increase from €20m to €50m or 150%. “After his first season with Bayern Munich, the 18-year-old gradually sees his playing time increase and has paid that back in goals,” market value admin Julius Weißenstein said. “The game-winning goals against Gladbach and Copenhagen, in particular, highlighted that he has a great career ahead of him.”
Stuttgart increase by 50%: Sensational Guirassy keeps step with Boniface
Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassyhas captured all the headlines this season. The Guinean striker scored 13 goals in seven Bundesliga games, breaking a record set by none less than Robert Lewandowski. Guirassy’s goalscoring prowess has now been awarded with a significant market value increase from €14m to €40m. That means Guirassy’s market value is twice that of the second most valuable Stuttgart player, Enzo Millot(+€13m to €20m). With seven market value increases, including national team debutant Chris Führich(+€8m to €12m), Stuttgart see their overall squad value increase by more than 50%. With a squad value of €180m, Stuttgart are now eighth in the league, and Guirassy has the highest market value in club history since Benjamin Pavard left the club five years ago.
“Serhou Guirassy has had a fantastic start to the season and captured the international headlines,” Kröger said when asked about the significant increase in market value. “His 13 goals to start the season are a Bundesliga record. The combination of ball control, technique, and goalscoring instinct are a combination of attributes that together with his size make him a much-valued commodity on the transfer market.”

Over at Bayer Leverkusen, Victor Bonifacenow has the same market value as Guirassy. The 22-year-old Nigerian, however, saw his market value increase by a bigger percentage. Boniface went from €12m to €40m or a 230% rise—the highest increase among all players with a market value of at least €10m. “He is one of the faces of Leverkusen’s rise to the top of the table,” Weißenstein said. “Leverkusen made a great deal when they paid just €20m for Boniface. Although he is 6 ft 2 inches tall, Boniface is very mobile and fast. Boniface doesn’t just score goals but also combines attributes that make him the quintessential modern no.9: a forward who doesn’t just score goals but also holds the ball and provides assists.”
Downgrades for Adeyemi & De Ligt – Aaronson among biggest losers
At Dortmund, there are a few ups and several downs. Although Julian Ryerson(+€2m to €15m), Jamie Bynoe-Gittens(+€4m to €18m), Donyell Malen(+€7m to €35m) and Felix Nmecha(+€10m to €25m) saw their market values increased, four Dortmund stars saw their market value drop by €5m each: Giovanni Reyna(now €20m), Sébastien Haller(€25m), Niklas Süle(€30m) and Karim Adeyemi(€35m). “Adeyemi’s form has dropped significantly and, as a result, has lost his position in the starting XI,” Kröger said. “The same is true in the national teams where other players are ahead of him in the pecking order.”
Overall, Dortmund’s squad value has dropped to €466m. The same isn’t true for champions Bayern Munich, whose squad value has increased by €51m to €949m. But even at Bayern, a few players saw their market value decrease. As is the case with Adeyemi at Dortmund, Matthijs de Ligtsaw his market value drop by €5m to €70m. “Although he was one of the most consistent players last season, he is currently struggling a bit under Thomas Tuchel,” market value admin Frederic Hillmann said. “Internationally, De Ligt has a top-level market value, which also means he should be playing regularly. With his playing time reduced, we had to react.”

Union Berlinsigning Brenden Aaronsonreceived an even bigger drop from €7m to €18m. “Aaronson arrived with high expectations on loan from Leeds,” Weißenstein said. “Union Berlin were quite excited to sign the US men’s national team player. But Aaronson has struggled to find a spot in Urs Fischer’s system and when he plays he looks lost.”
Most valuable Bundesliga players: Kane even with Musiala
There is also movement at the very top of the ranking. Kane can close the gap because first-placed Jamal Musialaremains at €110m. Despite a ten-year age difference, the 20-year-old German and the 30-year-old English national team player, who received a €20m increase, are now sharing first place.

“Harry Kane’s transfer fee set a new benchmark for the Bundesliga,” admin Hillmann said. “Although Bayern Munich couldn’t have come up with a more expensive solution to replace Lewandowski, the trend has shown that top clubs are willing to pay significant fees for no.9s even when they are at an advanced age. We, therefore, believe that Kane’s transfer fee is no exception.”
How Transfermarkt market values work
The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.
The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
